It seems the answer is obvious. Because they are devious, deviant and criminal in their intent to commit fraud and to USE people.
The TAROT, PALM READER or PSYCHIC is just a low level carny piece of scum. A bottom feeder. A parasite. A leech. A worm.
You can find reports about these grifters all over the newspapers. Like this:
"Sonya Cruz (also known as Signorita Rita), 34, and Estee Lee, 43, were arrested....and charged with scheme to defraud, grand larceny, and fortunetelling.....The women charged customers more than $1,000 to take away supposed curses or heal problems, such as a husband’s drinking...."
AND THIS, from the NEW YORK TIMES, concerning a certain "ZENA THE CLAIRVOYANT"
"Sylvia Mitchell’s next available palm reading will apparently take place in a jail cell, as her own future involves a stack of police complaints that is approaching the size of a tarot deck.
Ms. Mitchell, 36, traded her crystal ball for silver bracelets Wednesday morning shortly before 9 a.m., far from the Seventh Avenue South address where she worked at the parlor of Zena the Clairvoyant....
....The search for Ms. Mitchell, 36, began last month, when a Florida woman swore out a complaint against her, accusing her of taking $27,000 to help the victim address her attachment to money. Ms. Mitchell promised to return the money upon request, but did not, the woman told detectives. Eventually Ms. Mitchell returned $10,000, but then disappeared. The woman hired a private investigator, Bob Nygaard, to try to find Ms. Mitchell....
....After the column, other people stepped forward who said Ms. Mitchell had taken money from them. One, a woman from the Catskills in upstate New York, recognized Ms. Mitchell’s photo as that of the psychic who took more than $9,000 from her during consultations in her parlor in Mystic over the last several months. The woman contacted the New York State Police."
HMMM..."ZENA THE CLAIRVOYANT" just moved into a basement dive on East 78th Street, and chained up an illegal A-FRAME to a No Parking Sign on the corner???
Here's the start of that NEW YORK TIMES article....
You thought SYLVIA MITCHELL would STOP her games after the New York Times article and the arrest? NO....She was arrested just last week! Yes, arrested AGAIN. The New York Daily News reported it:
"“She's done nothing wrong,” Murray said. “She's been smeared again and again.”

You thought SYLVIA MITCHELL would STOP her games after the New York Times article and the arrest? NO....She was arrested just last week! Yes, arrested AGAIN. The New York Daily News reported it:
It's a case of déjà vu for one scheming Greenwich Village psychic.
Cops busted Sylvia Mitchell after the seer-ial scammer conned a hapless woman out of more than $125,000, police sources said Wednesday. The rogue soothsayer, who runs palm-reading outfits in the West Village and Mystic, Conn., is no stranger to jail cells or lawsuits. She has previously fleeced multiple victims who sought sage advice but were swindled instead, police said.
In her latest ruse, Mitchell, 38, allegedly bilked Singapore native Lee Chong out of $128,000 between 2007 and 2009, sources said. The fortune-teller repeatedly promised to “rid the victim of bad spirits,” a police source said.
Whether the spirits split remains a mystery. However, Chong reported Mitchell to the police on Sept. 25, 2012,sources said. The seer was elusive for several months, but cops finally cuffed Mitchell on Tuesday at her Seventh Avenue South shop, Zena Clairvoyant.
She was arraigned on charges of grand larceny Wednesday night, but released on her own recognizance.
“I'm innocent,” said Mitchell, clad in a houndstooth dress, Ugg boots and black cashmere sweater inside Manhattan criminal court.
"“She's done nothing wrong,” Murray said. “She's been smeared again and again.”
Mitchell was charged with grand larceny.
Her last brush with the law was in 2011, when she was busted in Connecticut and accused of ripping off $27,000 from a Florida woman and $9,000 from a Catskills woman in similar schemes.
In that instance, she was charged with being a fugitive and with criminal impersonation for giving cops a fake name, authorities said.
A 2010 lawsuit also accused Mitchell of duping a 36-year-old woman into spending more than $10,000 on dubious methods of undoing “blockages” in her life - including a shopping spree for the crooked clairvoyant at a Ralph Lauren store.
But Mitchell is far from the only psychic scammer in New York. In 2009, Sonia Spiro pleaded guilty in Queens to taking $40,000 from a woman in return for removing demons.
In 2011, Manhattan psychic Nancy Marks was rounded up in a $40 million scam that preyed upon people fearing bad luck or becomnig haunted.
