"QUALITY OF LIFE," and the "No Broken Windows" theory, were hallmarks of Rudy Giuliani's mayorship. Let's keep on making sure the streets are clean, graffiti removed, and POSTERIZING scofflaws fined. Don't let the grifter block the sidewalk with panhandling and leaflet scams. Enforcing the law is profitable. The city makes money. In most cases, the scofflaw has a real apartment or store and can easily be made to pay the fine. If only someone writes the ticket!

Worst Scofflaw: WILLIAM THOMPSON
THREE politicians are SCOFFLAWS:
Bill DeBlasio
John Liu
WILLIAM THOMPSON
They all are willing to take fines as long as they can put illegal signs all around town. And worse, they won't even PAY THE FINES!
The sanitation department most commendably did not turn a blind eye to powerful politicians such as DeBlasio, Liu or Thompson.
But WILLIAM THOMPSON, kicking and screaming, was the last to pay up.
What kind of message does this send about the character of WILLIAM THOMPSON?
PS, politicians should vote to BAN telemarketer calls, period. There is no reason, none, for any politician, religious group, charity group, or anyone else to invade the privacy of someone's home. "Junk mail" is not as intrusive. You can choose when to open your mail box.
$19 Movers - MOVE THEM TO JAIL
Russian Mafia?
Some other obnoxious cartel?
They are well organized, and they hire morons who, carrying a sack with a ream of paper, and a few rolls of tape, routinely hit EVERY lamppost in a neighborhood.
How about: sting operations to hire these creeps, and then confiscate the moving van? Up the penalty specifically on "mover" signs, so that the fines increase $500 per violation, and that the van won't be returned for under $10,000 in cash?
How about: Instantly cutting off phone service to a reported "$19 moving" sign? That would also slow down these criminals.

EVERY DAY: SCOFF, CHEAT, SCOFF
EVERY DAY afer 3pm, here's the "PSYCHIC" sign illegally chained to a No Parking sign on the corner of 73rd and 1st Avenue, right next to the BAREBURGER RESTAURANT at 1370 1st Avenue:
Sanitation admits that for many months now, THIS SIGN has been ILLEGALLY CHAINED either on 73rd and 1st or on 73rd and York.
When a violation is reported, it should be taken care of quickly. No "we'll send someone in 3-4 days" or "we went by and didn't anything."
When there are repeat violations, the response should be STRONGER, not shoulder shrugs and confusion.

The MOVING Scofflaws who NEVER STOP
While they haven't blanketed the boroughs as fiercely as they used to, the obnoxious "$19 MOVING" signs continue to turn up all over the place.
People end up with their belongings held for ransom (because the movers now are quoting hidden charges)
People end up with things stolen or missing.
Is it "caveat emptor," or shouldn't the city be protecting people by not allowing these con artists to post the signs?
After Hurricane Sandy, various towing operators began to clear the streets (as well as driveways, where cars were legally parked) charging a fortune. Somehow, that was legal.
It was ok to show up with a truck, chain a car and haul it away without permission, and charge $500 OR $700 or more to the owner. Ask Arnold Diaz about it.
Assemblyman. Senator. How about a law that would allow the phone company to instantly disconnect the number you see on this sign?
How about making sure the fines escalate, doubling and tripling with each report? And that after several reports, a "sting" is made to impound the moving vehicle?
WHY let criminals and scofflaws prosper when the city can use the revenue?
Why is it that the city doesn't expand from parking tickets to tickets for the kind of eyesores, scofflaws, clutter and conjobs seen in the photos on this blog?
Creepy "Richard," The Computer Clutter-Poster
Nobody else is such an obnoxious sneak. He even has the nerve to post a picture of himself with a big smirk on his face. Our Town, Learning Annex, and the others pay to have kiosks on the street. HE is the parasite who takes advantage.
What a CREEP
It should be a simple matter for someone from Sanitation, or the Doe Fund, to walk by, see these things, and fine RICHARD $100 per item.
It's ridiculous that violations have to be phoned in to 311 or through a website, when someone on patrol can easily pay for his or her own salary by writing up tickets for this kind of violation.
Why should "RICHARD" make profits off this sneaky, illegal activity?
SMIRK SMIRK, SCOFF SCOFF.

"SCOFF SCOFF!" The 73rd Street PSYCHIC WITCH AGAIN!
She has a business at 425 East 75th and if Sanitation comes knocking, she refuses to answer.
It's time the witch stops scoffing at Sanitation officials and reps.
It's time neighborhood community boards and the 19th Precinct look into this.
Read about dirt bags like her at the RANDI.ORG:
http://www.randi.org/library/coldreading/
Why should the city let this con artist use PUBLIC PROPERTY ILLEGALLY to con people into being robbed?
Only a SICKO would keep chaining signs up in violation of city law.
SCOFF...SCOFF...SCOFF...

Warned? SHE SCOFFS YET AGAIN! The Witch of 73rd Street
BUSINESS AS USUAL SCOFF SCOFF SCOFF
She DELIBERATELY makes sure to put the sign up after 4pm and on weekends
Because she knows this is when it's less likely that any government officials will be coming by to see it.
The city can and should be making $100 every time THE WITCH and her slob husband have the sign up.
CUT THE CHAIN
FINE THEM
CONFISCATE THE SIGN
There is no excuse for SCOFFLAWS to DEFY THE LAW.
