Today the sign was up from approximately 3:30pm to 9pm.

Having a gigantic sign nailed to the building wall, another sign, two in the window...should be enough.

The "oh, it's someone just trying to make a living" excuse is just that. An excuse. No other business does this, and plenty in this neighborhood make sure to keep their signs legal.

Why an excuse here? Because this person is stubborn? Because it's too much effort to keep up with the sick games he plays, chaining signs to the corner of 1st and 75th, then promising compliance, then putting them up in mid-block, and back and forth?

No more sidewalk obstructions, especially from a chronic scofflaw who has chained signs to the corner of 1st and 75th and put them on the sidewalk day after day and month after month. There are laws against it, and those who believe in Mayor Giuliai's "quality of life" program and in a clean, safe, decent environment, do not want any excuses about it.

3:30 pm and yes, the arrogant scofflaw has once again put up that "PSYCHIC" sign, moneygrubbing for a $5 palm-reading.

Would an honest tax-paying business owner continually spit in the face of city officials, the 19th Precinct, the Sanitation Department, and be such a scofflaw?
No, just an anti-social contemptible sub-human.

All over town there is a plague of "PSYCHIC" frauds, con-artists and bottom-feeders. This creep's sign points to a basement grotto at

435 East 75th was built in 1910. It's a six floor walk-up with crappy 575 square foot one bedroom apartments.
The landlord does not live anywhere near this building It's VALERIE ANAVIM who lives at 100 OLD PALISADE RD , PL #2, FORT LEE ,NJ 07024. Most reputable landlords have real estate agents showing apartments for them. Anavim just has a FOR RENT sign, as you see, and a phone number: 917-301-3030.
Valerie, do you believe in psychics? Do you believe in keeping the sidewalk clean in front of your building? Are you a pig?
Mayor Giuliani was a strong supporter of "quality of life" and believed that the classier the buildings, the less graffiti, the less scofflaw pigs, the better the chance for people to build up a neighborhood and make it prosper.
This scofflaw denigrates the neighborhood, his neighbors, and the human race. His sty should be condemned.

The Sanitation Department's handbook on violations, laws and fines, includes a picture of just what a "sidewalk obstruction" is, related to sandwich-board signs.

It looks just like dozens of pictures on this blog, which show what the "PSYCHIC" at 435 East 75th Street and the "PSYCHIC" on 425 East 73rd have deliberately done day after day, month after month, in arrogant defiance of their neighbors and city officials.

Sanitation Department LAWS and FINES

According to the Sanitation Department, fines for Sidewalk Obstruction (such as the scofflaw PSYCHIC bunch love to do) range from $100 to $300.

Scofflaws who chain their signs on busy sidewalk corners, so that people will walk down the street to the actual storefront, and scofflaws who put up signs that have their phone numbers (which easily leads to a store or apartment) can and should have money taken from their bank accounts, or have their property seized. There is NO excuse for the Scofflaw activity from anyone shown in posts on this blog.

These signs should be confiscated. Anything else is unacceptable.

This creep is going to chain the sign up as long as he has one. If he doesn't have a sign, the problem is over. IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO DEAL WITH A SOCIOPATH SCOFFLAW.

The husband of the "psychic" who operates out of 435 East 75th keeps hauling that sign out onto the sidewalk.
He has refused to answer the door to city officials.
IT'S TIME TO HANDCUFF HIM AND KEEP HIM IN THE TOMBS OVERNIGHT.
IT'S TIME TO TAKE AWAY THAT SIGN. THE ONE THAT BLOCKS THE SIDEWALK.

He's got a GIGANTIC ugly sign that practically covers the entire first floor of that rat-trap hovel of a building he inhabits.

Across the street, OSLO, a coffee house, had an illegal sign. Once they were told it was illegal, they took it in, and NEVER PUT IT OUT AGAIN. That's what an honest, caring business does in the neighborhood.
This useless obnoxious SCOFFLAW comes out of his toilet at 4pm every afternoon, and puts the sign up, caring about nobody but himself and the money grubbing bag of dung he's married to.

See the car?
If that car was parked a few feet too close to the corner, or it was the wrong day, that car would get a ticket. That car might even be HAULED AWAY. Yes, towed.
Why not haul away a damn SIGN? Can't the city use $100? $200? How about $500 for a repeat offender like this witch?

75th Street SCOFFLAW Disrespects the City

Told repeatedly to stop putting illegal signs on the public sidewalks, what does the "PSYCHIC" of 75th Street do? Yes, keeps right on SCOFFING.
September 8th, after 5pm, and...
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR signs is not good enough. The illegal FIFTH one has to be put on the sidewalk as well.

Nobody else creates such an eyesore for penny ante $5 "readings" that, as the Racket Squad could tell you, can escalate into con jobs that can take someone's life savings away.

COFFING should not be rewarded

Logic would say that the 19th Precinct can cut that chain. Transportation can cut that chain. Sanitation can cut that chain.

If you can haul away somebody's CAR, which they might desperately need for work the next day, why not confiscate a damn sign, stick it in the trunk of the police car, and stow it for 30 days with a "$200 fine or we destroy it" notification?

Right now, as a Sanitation official sneered, "Reporting these signs is NOT WORKING." We're all supposed to give up and let stubborn scofflaws win?
